Our reading and math classes at the Learning Gardens are led by Susie Stillwell, a Texas certified elementary school teacher with over 12 years of teaching experience. Susie is committed to teaching your child to read, write, and do math through small group instruction, with classes capped at no more than 8 students.

Susie uses a centers-based approach, ensuring personalized and engaging lessons. Follow-up lessons will be sent home to reinforce what was learned each week.

Before classes begin in February, Susie will conduct one-on-one sessions over Zoom with each student to assess their current reading and math levels. This assessment will help plan and guide our weekly lessons, ensuring each child receives the support they need to thrive.

Parents are welcome to stay during the classes; however, we find that children are more successful when parents are not present. Parents can relax in the outdoor kitchen, enjoy a cup of coffee, or even go on a hike while their child is learning.
